For a few years now, electric propulsion has been developing and spreading out in the mobility sector. While it is progressively imposing itself in the automobile industry, its entry in the motorcycle industry appears to be more difficult.

When discussing the topic of electric motorcycles, opinions differ. Despite the fact that electric technology suits 2-wheel vehicles better, this topic seems to be controversial.
However, the effects of global warming are undeniable and we are urged to develop new solutions to enjoy riding sensations sustainably.

The environmental challenges we are facing today incite us to adopt a true eco-friendly approach. When talking about ecology, we are considering all the interactions between us and the environment around us which we are also part of, as well as the consequences of these interactions, at all levels.

This way of thinking goes beyond the simple use of a new energy, it is the start of a new paradigm.

The change of paradigm induces to develop a systemic approach and to rethink the motorcycle as a whole. It is to (re)define the motorcycle experience, the environment in which it takes place and the value system it is based on.
Because what is simple is robust and what is robust is durable, simplicity is one of the values the new paradigm is based on.
Expemotion developed the concept of e-raw while cultivating this value in both form and substance. Electric propulsion is a way to simplify the powertrain part. Expemotion also simplified the cycle part, based on fundamental mechanics. In order to change paradigm, Expemotion went back to the very beginning, the essence of motorcycles, to take a new direction. Inspired by classic customs and café racers, e-raw’s aesthetics reconcile the language of electricity with lines of the past. The tubular steel frame supports the plywood seat which imitates the iconic shape of the gas tank and underlines its absence. The custom-made seat post in laminated wood can be adjusted to various seat-heights.
The frame also supports the electric powertrain, inspired by aviation. The silence and the fluidity of the electrical experience clearly propel the driver in the aeronautics world. For this reason, the e-raw concept combines aeronautics’ codes with motorcycles’ ones, two contiguous worlds.
Authenticity is another value the new paradigm is built on. It is in this belief that Expemotion worked on raw materials and brought them together. Four craftsmen contributed to the realization of this prototype. Together, they worked metal and wood manually to build this motorcycle.

The e-raw concept generated more than 160 publications from the web all around the world, but also articles in newspapers (Moto Journal, September 3rd, 2015) and in magazines (reportage in Moto Heroes – Chapter 15, January-March 2016).
e-raw was also selected by major blogs as one of the best concepts of 2015 (TOP 10 electric vehicles of 2015 – designboom and Best Of 2015 – Blog Esprit Design)
